The Top Five Wedding Colors for Summer 2016

This year Pantoneal designers in the Summer 2016 Bridal Fashion Week who used peach in their collections. the leading expert in color classification has named the top colors for summer 2016 weddings. According to Leatrice Eisenman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, this year’s colors “…transport us to a sunnier more carefree place where we can feel free to express our wittier natures”. The website provides many ideas for the bride to incorporate the new colors into her wedding including decorations, flowers, invitations, table settings and more. Here are the top five summer wedding colors for 2016 chosen by Pantone:

Rose Quartz,–a soft pink was chosen as the number one color because it elicits “a soothing sense of order and peace.” Ms. Eisenman suggests that brides use colors in combination with neutrals like Lilac Gray or brights like Periwinkle Blue or Green Flash. Colors can be used for invitations, bridesmaids’ dresses, bouquets or even the wedding cake.

Peach Echo – This color is in the orange family and evokes feelings of friendliness and warmth. When matched with pink and gold, this color combination makes a lovely décor. The Knot a popular wedding website, features several designers in the Summer 2016 Bridal Fashion Week who used peach in their collections.

Serenity,– a muted periwinkle blue, is a color that suggests comfort and the sky above. Pantone suggests some uses of Serenity for the tuxedos, the bridal gown, bridesmaids’ dresses, bouquets, floral arrangements and rented lounge furniture for the reception.

Blue was a popular color for wedding gowns during Summer Bridal Fashion Week 2016. Colors shown were primarily pastel shades of blue; however, some wedding sites like www.kennedyblue.com are showing turquoise as a popular wedding color.

Buttercup – This bright yellow hue brings a sunny, happy feeling in its brightness. The Knot suggests pairing this color with gray for a more sophisticated feel. One combination shows the groomsmen in gray with yellow boutonnieres and the bride in white with buttercups in her bouquet. This color theme can be carried over to the decorations using yellow floral arrangements and gray table linens with white accents.

Lilac Gray – Pantone describes this color as gray with lilac undertones. Pantone features the groomsmen in gray tuxedoes with accents of lilac and the bride in gray with white and lilac accents.

This subtle neutral was shown during the Summer 2016 Bridal Fashion Week by several top designers including Naeem Khan and Romona Keveza. Although some think of the color as dull, the designer’s use of embellishment and luxurious fabrics resulted in a highly sophisticated look.
